Molds are small organisms of various colors like black, white, green etc. and that are found almost everywhere in your household, including plants, food and dry leaves.
Molds generally develop in households areas like bathrooms, basements where there is high level of moisture present. The main reason of mold developing is water seepage and water leakage along with high humidity.
Mold is dangerous since it not only damages your house aesthetics and furniture, but also the health of your family members. People who come in direct contact with these molds can suffer with various allergies.
Sneezing, eye irritation, itchy skin are the most common allergies caused by molds, but there may be many other kind of reactions which initially may not be related to the mold exposure. Infants, children and elder people who have low immunity levels are prone to have respiratory and breathing problems. Therefore mold should be removed as early as possible.
How much mold removal costs depend on various factors. If the mold impacted area is less than 10 feet which is around 3 feet by 3 feet, then probably you can remove the mold yourself using a hard brush and a detergent. If the impacted area is more or it is having toxic or black mold, then it is recommended to use help from a specialized mold removal contractor.
A typical crawl space mold removal cost can be anywhere between $500 and $4000. If there are more areas which are impacted by mold like basement wall, crawl spaces, shower wall etc, the cost can be as high as $6000. And if there has been structural damage to walls and /or furniture and the impacted area is large, then you can expect the cost of mold removal and repair to be anywhere between $10,000 and $30,000.
Apart from the mold removal cost, there are some other costs like mold inspection cost, plumbing cost to repair leakages etc. if there is any structural damage, then it becomes an additional and substantial cost.
